Business Overhead Expense

Help Keep Your Practice Healthy Even If You're Disabled

As a practice owner, you know that a medical practice comes with big responsibilities. If you are not in the office to see patients for an extended period of time – due to a serious illness or injury – you could jeopardize much of what you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

Your Practice Needs Its Own Insurance

Most physicians are aware of the value of disability insurance – to help replace lost income if a serious illness or injury prevents you from working.

But what about your practice? How would you pay for the upkeep of your office while you’re out of commission? Your personal disability insurance most likely is not sufficient to cover the expenses of both your household and your practice.

Business Overhead Expense insurance is designed to help keep your practice up and running if you cannot work due to a serious disability. It can even help cover a replacement for you - a locum tenens physician - so your patients won't leave your practice to find care elsewhere.

Help Protect Your Practice and Save 25%

The TMA Member Business Overhead Expense Plan issued by The Prudential Insurance Company of America offers a 25% premium credit* and a streamlined online application available below.

The TMA Member Business Overhead Expense Plan is designed with many exclusive benefits. For example, most plans typically provide only 12 months of coverage. The TMA member plan provides up to $50,000 per month for a 24-month benefit period. That’s up to $1,200,000 of total benefits. And your first benefit payment would be made retroactively after you have been disabled for 30 continuous days.

Besides helping to cover your typical monthly expenses like rent, salaries, utilities, taxes and more, you can also choose to help cover the salary of a locum tenens physician to care for patients while you recover. In addition, during the entire time you are disabled your premiums will be waived – so your coverage continues at no cost while you receive benefits.
