Health Insurance is Part of Your Essential Protection

As your life changes, your needs for health insurance change as well. Perhaps you are about to change employers, complete your residency, open your own practice, get married, or welcome a new child. If so, all of these life changes (and more) can affect your need for health insurance. Because health insurance coverage is part of your essential insurance protection, we are here to guide and support you in making the right choices at the right time. Let us help you choose the right coverage for your needs at the best price available.

Group Health Insurance Options

A quality health insurance plan is one of the most practical ways to increase your practice’s employee retention and their job satisfaction. In a very real sense, these benefits can improve the overall health of your practice.

If you need to secure a group health policy for the first time or if your plan is up for renewal, you can trust our knowledgeable team with your health insurance needs. Let us remove the burden of shopping for a benefits package. Work with a hardworking advisor who will thoroughly examine and compare group plans, then present the most suitable options for your practice. This will help you minimize your investment of time and allow you to make the best decisions. Our goal is simple: help your practice find the best possible health insurance coverage at the best possible cost.

Maintaining and servicing a benefits package is often a burden on practice staff. When you work with TMA Insurance Trust, your advisor can shoulder much of the administrative work that comes with managing your benefits package. He or she will communicate with your group’s contact person on a regular basis, and will advocate on your behalf with the insurance carrier if problems arise.

Individual Health Insurance Options

We all know that late in the year, health insurance open enrollment begins. But outside of that timeframe, some physicians may qualify for a special ACA enrollment period if they meet certain extenuating circumstances. Here is a list of the life events that may qualify you for a special enrollment period to add family members to your plan:

  • Get married
  • Have a child
  • Adopt a child
  • Become a foster parent
  • Become responsible for child support

Additionally, you can obtain coverage during a special enrollment period if you lose your current health coverage during the year due to the following reasons:

  • Divorce
  • Loss of dependent status
  • Moving out of state
  • Loss of employer coverage

For those who qualify due to these life events, there is a 60-day special enrollment period from the date of the qualifying event. If any of these events apply to you, call on us to help you make the right choices.

Even if you are not able to take advantage of a special enrollment period or if other options won’t work for you, we can help you obtain short-term health insurance coverage as a stop-gap measure of protection for 30 to 90 days.

Medicare Insurance Options

After enrolling in Medicare Part A and/or B, you still have important decisions to make. Should you buy a Medicare Supplement plan and/or a Medicare Part D Prescription plan? Making decisions about filling the gaps in your Medicare coverage can be a challenging, time-consuming undertaking. Of course, you can sort through options and do research on your own, but why should you? As a TMA Member, you have personable, professional help at the ready - at no cost to you.

As a physician choosing Medicare options, you are faced with a complex situation. This is especially so if you are nearing age 65 and are still in active practice.

If you do not plan to retire at 65, should you still obtain Medicare Part B coverage? How will your current health coverage coincide with Medicare coverage? What will happen to any dependents who are insured on your current plan? Will your prescription medicine be covered, and at what cost? Doing the research to know exactly what you should do can be a hassle, and could result in the wrong long-term financial choice. When you enlist the help of a TMA Insurance Trust advisor, you will save time and energy. Best of all, you will have the support of an experienced advisor who will present you with options to protect your health and finances.
