Help Protect Yourself from the Unexpected with Accident Insurance

By definition, an accident is neither expected nor intended; in other words, you don’t see it coming, and when it does ... you wish it hadn’t. Out-of-pocket medical costs are also an unexpected surprise for many when an accident occurs. If you or a family member falls from a ladder, breaks an ankle during a soccer game, or burns an arm while trying out the new electric pressure cooker; expenses that aren’t covered by health insurance may add up quickly.

For TMA members, help is available to pay for the out-of-pocket costs related to an accident. Now that you have health insurance in place for the new year, why not examine your family’s need for accident insurance coverage? Your health insurance is valuable, but accidents may bring with them expenses like deductibles, copays, out-of-network charges, travel expenses, and additional cost of living expenses that can add up very quickly. Many families with children who participate in sports may view accident insurance as a valuable protection, but the protection can be helpful for all individuals.

TMA Member Accident Insurance issued by The Prudential Insurance Company of America can be a great way to help alleviate any sudden financial burden that an unforeseen injury brings. This plan pays a benefit when you suffer a covered injury due to an accident - whether it is on the playing field, in the yard, at home, even in the car. The plan includes the following features:

  • Coverage for a variety of accidents and injuries
  • Benefits paid without needing to provide proof of expenses
  • Benefits paid to you; use them for whatever you need

What Accident Insurance Covers

The TMA Member Accident Insurance Plan covers bone fractures, joint dislocations, inpatient or outpatient hospital visits, dental or eye injuries, burns, and much more.

Receiving Benefits

Unlike some other plans, your benefit payment is made based on the diagnosis. There is no need to undergo treatment or provide proof of any expenses incurred prior to receiving payment, so you will receive payments as soon as possible.

You will be able to use your lump sum benefit in any way you would like. Whether you use it for prescriptions, out-of-pocket deductibles, copays not covered by health insurance, for day-to-day living expenses, or necessary caregiving; the choice is yours.

If you are a TMA member under age 65, you are eligible to enroll for this insurance protection. You can also enroll a dependent spouse or domestic partner under age 65, and dependent children under age 26.
