Most insurance products have a specific job. Health insurance is essential and helps cover the cost of medical care. Disability insurance replaces a portion of your income if you're unable to practice. Critical illness insurance provides a cash benefit following a diagnosis that can help with many of the expenses that often accompany a serious illness.
The benefit is paid directly to you—not to a healthcare provider—giving you the flexibility to use the funds for medical or non-medical expenses based on your household's needs and priorities.
Financial Flexibility for the Unexpected
When a serious illness occurs, the medical facts matter, but so do the practical realities that surround recovery. Physicians understand better than most that a serious diagnosis rarely affects just one person. Work may need to be reduced or paused. Appointments have to be scheduled. Family members often take on new responsibilities, and daily life can quickly change. Along with medical expenses, many families face additional costs, including travel for specialized care, childcare, temporary help at home, and regular monthly bills. A loss of income before disability benefits begin can add to the financial strain.
The TMA Member Critical Illness Insurance plan, issued by The Prudential Insurance Company of America, helps provide added financial flexibility when those unexpected costs arise. Because the benefit is paid directly to you, there are no deductibles, copays, or coinsurance to manage; you decide how the funds are used based on your family's needs.

Guaranteed Acceptance for TMA Members
Guaranteed acceptance is available to TMA members under age 65 for $20,000 of TMA member critical illness insurance coverage. No medical exam, health questions, or underwriting are required.
Once enrolled, guaranteed acceptance also extends to an eligible spouse or domestic partner under age 65 for $10,000 in coverage.
Members may apply for up to $250,000 in additional coverage through simplified underwriting, with spouse and family coverage options available.
How It Fits with Your Existing Coverage
Critical illness insurance isn't designed to replace your health or disability insurance. Instead, it complements your existing coverage by providing financial flexibility that adapts to your individual circumstances. Because every recovery is different, so are the financial needs that come with it.
